Rally in color

Hey, I made my best record! I finish coloring Rally in 2 days. Still I am not suppose to take that long to color.

Rally is a Adept Mage in the 24th century, on her free time illegally/forbiddenly studying time magic in an attempt to change the present by changing the past.

In the 24th century, a powerful tyrant emperor took over the world and changed the once existed law. Constantly abusing the law of human rights and forcing the people into obedients.

With the help of Wu Ming, she is determine to change history even if it means to erase her own existence.

Wu Jing Ren 3D model: Work in Progess 5 : Color/Texture mock up

Later updates on the hair, found a straight hair texture online and its alpha map too.

Rendered in Mental Ray, shader materials are Blinn and Phong, therefore the reflective effect.
Probably will change the shader material to Lambert. This is a mock up guys.

Wu Jing Ren 3D model: Work in Progress 4

There is no way ordinary people would understand just by making sure your own work looks damn good takes a long time to do so. Nitpicking is also one of the factors of making sure.
All the images below are taken in maya's playblast image viewer(my normals maps do show up in the working area, under the "Renderer" option I switched from "Default Quality Rendering" to "High Quality Rendering") , the mental ray rendering does not show so well.

I add extra details to the waist guard, leg guard and the shoe.

Wu Jing Ren in color

I didnt take more than one day to finish coloring this, just 5 hours of coloring. I just wanted to make the piece look "concept art". Not sure about the colors for his suit, I might change the color of it some day.

Calicus in Color

This piece also took as long as the colored Wu Ming piece. I spend too much time on the metal parts of her costume. Use green for her outfit because of her love for nature and also because her weapon is better suited in forest combat.

无命 Wu Ming in color

So many style of coloring was going through my head while I was coloring this piece.
There is the Nomura style of coloring, BlazBlue style of coloring, KOF 12 style of coloring but by the time I start coloring I ended up using my own knowledge of coloring and instinct to get the piece done.

Normally this should only take 5-7 hours to be colored but since I haven't been practicing my coloring since I left my undergraduate college. This took me 4 days(before it was 3 days, I spent another day to rework on the nose and left hand) to color, I don't know why but it will appears that I color very slow or I spent to much time working on the small parts.

So this is my 2nd colored piece since last year's Spring Quarter.

About Wu Ming:
He is a martial artist whose technique are based on blade motions of any kind. He uses a broad saber which grants him the ability to disappear into shadows and reappear from a different shadow.

In the 24th century, a tyrant emperor takes control of the entire world and nobody stands a chance against the emperor. Wu Ming desires to end the emperor's life in order to achieve enlightenment and peace. Therefore he goes back in time with Rally's time portal on a mutual quest to change the future.

My next coloring piece would be Calicus, please look forward to it.

Witch: Hay Lin Modeling Work in Progress

I took a little long break from doing Jing Ren's texturing to do a little bit of easy work(turns out it was that easy either). The hardest part in this model is not modeling but the coloring and texturing, if I was better in painting in photoshop I would not have took the entire day just to paint the face. For now, I only have the face and partial of the entire figure colored.

I am trying to go for Kingdom Hearts's coloring style, so far it doesn't show much.

Modeling based on this design of mine
